Dr. John C. Vaughn, Pastor Emeritus

Dr. John C. Vaughn is the President of the Fundamental Baptist Fellowship International and Pastor Emeritus of Faith Baptist Church in Taylors, SC, where he served as Senior Pastor for 30 years. Dr. Vaughn and his wife Brenda are co-authors of More Precious Than Gold: The Fiery Trial of a Family’s Faith, which tells the story of a fire in the Vaughn home in 1978, in which Brenda and daughter Becky were severely burned, and the resulting ministries, including Hidden Treasure Christian School, founded in 1981. From humble beginnings with 45 members in a small metal building, the 1200 member Faith Baptist Church and Hidden Treasure Christian School now share a beautiful 36-acre campus.

Dr. Vaughn has preached in 46 states and 52 foreign countries, in churches, colleges, camps and conferences, and is heard on the daily radio broadcast Foundations of Faith. His sermons are regularly downloaded from www.sermon audio.com. His articles appear in FrontLine magazine, and other Christian publications. He has served as the Senior Chaplain of the Greenville Police Department since 1987, President of the South Carolina Association of Christian Schools from 1988-2005, and is President of the Fundamental Baptist Fellowship International, and Editor of FrontLine magazine. Dr. Vaughn founded FrontLine Clubs, a youth discipleship program for Bible-believing churches using uniformed, graded clubs.

He serves on the boards of Bob Jones University, The Wilds, International Baptist Missions, and Mission Gospel Ministries International. He was appointed by Governor Mark Sanford in 2005 to a four-year term on the Commission of the South Carolina Department of Disabilities and Special Needs, which serves over 29,000 disabled South Carolinians. Having attended Cumberland College and the University of South Carolina, Dr. Vaughn completed his undergraduate and graduate work at Bob Jones University. In 1989, he received the honorary Doctor of Divinity degree from BJU, and in 2006 was honored as the BJU Alumnus of the Year. He is completing the Doctor of Pastoral Theology through a dissertation project to train pastors, chaplains and other professional care givers in Biblical Crisis Intervention.

The Vaughns have five children (one with the Lord since September 2008) and seven grandchildren. Dr. Vaughn is caring for Brenda, who is in failing health, and Becky, who recently completed a degree in Counseling from Bob Jones University. As the Lord allows, Dr. Vaughn plans to continue preaching, teaching, and writing and has established the John C. Vaughn Evangelistic Association (www.johncvaughn.com) for the purpose of spreading the Gospel by “Encouraging Those Who Care for Others.©”
