Rev. Larry Mullinax, Pastoral Care

Larry Mullinax was born near Vienna, Illinois, and was saved at age nine at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Bartonville, Illinois. He felt called to the ministry at Bible Camp at Winona Lake, Indiana.

He met his future wife, Mary Sathoff, when she visited Oak Grove. They dated in high school and started looking at Bible colleges. Larry felt led to attend Bob Jones University. Mary went to BJU too and worked in their Records Office. Larry and Mary were married on December 22, 1956; then Larry graduated from BJU in 1957, with a double major in Bible and Education. Mary proudly received her teaching degree from Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois, on December 22, 1979, the day of their twenty-third wedding anniversary. She has taught school in Illinois, Georgia, and Florida.

The Mullinaxes have three children: Bryan, a computer analyst in Colorado; Martin, a computer programmer in Michigan; and Merrylee, a nurse practitioner and member of Faith Baptist.

Larry and Mary Mullinax moved to South Carolina, in November, 2000, after retiring from forty-two years in the ministry. But Pastor Mullinax knew that he couldn’t retire on the Lord. The Sunday after the Mullinaxes joined Faith, Larry volunteered to help with hospital visitation and was asked to lead Saturday visitation and teach a Sunday school class. Pastor Mullinax believes that help with the outreach program of the church assists Pastor Monroe in fulfilling the vision of reaching the community for Christ.
